Your annual eye exam should include more than just reading an eye chart.
Did you know…
- Sight-threatening eye diseases often have no outward signs or symptoms in the early stages
- State-of-the-art technology can help your doctor see early signs of these diseases.
- Early detection and treatment of eye disease may reduce your risk of vision loss
Regular exams can help your doctor detect common eye diseases:
- Macular degeneration
- Diabetic retinopathy
These diseases begin in the deepest layers of the retina (the inside layer of the back of the eye). OCT (Optical Coherence Tomography) is the newest state-of-the-art technology that lets the doctor see beneath the surface of your retina, where signs of disease first appear. It provides us with a digital retinal fingerprint and serves as a baseline for eye-health comparisons on future visits. It is becoming the gold standard for preventive care and disease management. Traditional eye exams and retinal photography alone do not provide this level of detail.
Our practice is committed to protecting your eye health with the most advanced technology available today, so we are excited to announce that our office now offers the iWellnessExam, which includes both: photos of the retina, and OCT.
The iWellnessExam is fast, easy, and comfortable for patients of all ages and gives the doctor valuable information about the health and your most precious gift – your sight.
